We have a beautiful flock of laying hens that are fed Certified Organic feed (which means non-GMO, NO toxic pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides) . . . and, of course . . . the hens are fed PASTURE. Eggs have thick brown shells, deep rich orange yolks, and a flavor that we think is unsurpassed! During the winter the hens are kept in a heated barn to ensure their safety and warmth, and their feed is supplemented with sprouted organic grain fodder (baby 6-day old plants). Our Laying hens currently reside in an “egg- mobile” which is a converted camper, or a camper frame on wheels that we named the Santa Maria, the Nina, or the Pinta in honor of the mother of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Christopher Columbus. The mobile “egg-mobiles” are pulled three to five days behind the cattle herd and the hens help scrub the pastures of insects that might bother the cattle in a holistic partnership.
